When Shawn first embarked on the journey of starting a church, he and his wife Laurie met in their living room with 5 others. The church grew rapidly and by its seventh year, New Venture was recognized as one of the 50 fastest-growing churches in the United States with the belief that “Church was never meant to be boring." In 2022, New Venture grew to join one of the world's most prominent and nationally recognized denominations and joined the family of Mariner's Church. With God's direction, tens of thousands have been impacted and touched by God’s love and the hope found in Christ.
Shawn also holds the record for the longest-serving Chaplain in the NFL, a fulfilling 29 years. He's combined his love for Faith and Fitness through another project, called IGNITE Faith and Fitness, where he helps men and women over 40 add muscle, lose weight, and grow in their faith and fitness without living at the gym or giving up their favorite foods.
